I Would Like To Propose Our Washington Football Team Trades An Infinite Number Of First Rounders For Deshaun Watson

This stat blows my mind. It doesn't make a lick of sense. Not just for one player to be so dominant at the hardest position in all of sports, but to continually beat all the other greats along the way is comical. It's not like he's a regular season hero, Tom Brady gets better in the playoffs. This year he went through all the greats on his way to the Super Bowl- Brees, Rodgers, Heinicke, and then the final boss Mahomes. And hand up I'll admit it, I thought this was going to be when Brady handed everyone's favorite proverbial baton and we'd enter into the decade of Patrick Mahomes dominance. But alas, it was just not to be. And how foolish of me to think otherwise.

So what does this have to do with Deshaun Watson? Well it's clear to me that unless you have a franchise quarterback you are drawing dead at winning a Super Bowl. And it's not often someone of Deshaun Watson's caliber is available on the market. Is the cost steep? Sure. But I've run the numbers and done the quadratic equations and sprinkled in some Sohcahtoa and the results are clear: trade a ton now for the next 10 years of Deshaun Watson's career.

It'l be expensive. And you might have to over-pay. But how many first round QBs can a team miss on before it's worth ponying up all the equity to make sure you can't miss again? Yes, the thought of mortgaging the future for 1 guy is a tough pill to swallow. But at the same time, 4th round steals like Dak Prescott are far and few between. Shit, most 1st round QBs end up sucking. Even guys who are "good enough", like the Derek Carrs of the world, do you really trust them to win you a Super Bowl? Nope, probably not. Which is why having a Deshaun is so important.

And to answer the hottest question in DC sports talk radio right now, "would I trade Chase Young in a package for Deshaun Watson?". I think the answer is....yes? I don't think I'd go like, 3 firsts and Chase, that seems like too much, but I don't think he should necessarily be completely off limits in a trade. He's the last guy on the roster I'd even consider trading, but I think you have to listen to everything when it comes to getting a franchise QB, as sad as it might be. QBs just matter so much more, is what it is.
